- For remote desktop to work on Windows, the target PC needs to meet the following conditions:
- Powered On: The target PC must be turned on and not in sleep or hibernation mode. It should be actively running to accept remote connections.
- Connected to the Internet or Network: If you're accessing the target PC from a different network (e.g., over the internet), it must be connected to the internet. If you're accessing it within the same local network, it must be connected to that local network.
- Remote Desktop Enabled: Remote Desktop needs to be enabled on the target PC. You can enable it through the system settings.
- Firewall and Network Settings: The target PC's firewall and network settings must allow Remote Desktop connections. Typically, this involves allowing the Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) through the firewall.
- Proper Credentials: You'll need the correct username and password to log into the target PC.
